Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung

Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung are based in the region of Thuringia, Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt.
The fund supports initiatives for training, workshops, industry-wide meetings and marketing of locations in the region.
Besides strengthening the performance of Mitteldeutschland's companies in the film, television and media industries, MDM pursues the following aims: to increase the funding impact in the region; to continue to give incentives for businesses to move to the region; to promote national and international networking within the industry; and to continue to establish hands-on training and qualification opportunities in the region.
Since its foundation in 1998 Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung has supported an average of 100 projects every year, spending funds amounting to approximately 12,5 million euros annually.
The overall production volume amounts to five times the allocated funds.
In particular, MDM support film and media productions that depict regional particularities in an authentic way; that pick up the cultural and historical heritage; that help establish cultural identity, and that tell an original story that invites people to relate. Thus drawing the attention of European and international audiences.
In addition MDM supports festivals, workshops, seminars and projects relevant to the media location. The general aim of the support is the development, promotion and strengthening of film culture, television culture and media culture industries in Mitteldeutschland (Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia).
All phases of a project may be supported, starting with preparation through production to distribution and presentation of all film, television, video and other audio-visual media productions that are economically promising.
MDM also provides subsidies and loans for innovative multimedia products and the development of targeted film marketing concepts.
The basic requirement for a successful application is evidence that parts of the Mitteldeutschland region will benefit culturally and most of all economically from the project.
The amount spent on film, television and media related services in this region while realizing a project must be equal or greater than the allocated funds. Positive impacts on the training and qualification sector are given particular credit.
