FILM ARC
FILM ARC is an interregional film initiative set up by four regional film funds in the Nordic Region – in the framework of Cine-Regio - in order to strengthen the audiovisual industries in Northern Sweden, Finland and Norway.
The four regional film funds behind FILM ARC are Filmpool Nord, Film i Västerbotten, POEM and Filmcamp.
With a total budget of EUR 2,8M for the next three years FILM ARC intends to strengthen local production companies by giving them access to training, seminars and on-going consultancy support. "Our main goal is to create stronger businesses not only with companies working with feature film, but within the whole framework of moving images, including computer games, advertising, and mobile content," says project manager Stina Almqvist, based at Filmpool Nord's Luleå office.
The first concrete action plan for the four FILM ARC founding members is to select ten production companies from each region and to invite them to six master-classes in 2009, where experts will discuss current issues such as digital distribution and co-financing. Each company will be able to bring its own project as a case study. The first master-class will take place during the Tromsö Film Festival, Norway (January 13-18, 2009) and the second one in Luleå, Sweden. The name of the 40 selected companies will be announced in December 2008.
