Rotterdam Film Fund
The Rotterdam Film Fund (RFF) focuses on encouraging audiovisual activities in the Rotterdam region. The fund is pursuing a municipal policy that encompasses the development and promotion of a healthy economic climate for the film and audiovisual industry, both city- and region-wide. The Fund provides facilities and financial support for feature films, documentaries and TV productions that are produced partly or entirely in the Rotterdam area. The RFF is especially interested in productions that contribute to a long-term strengthening of the audiovisual sector. The Fund also develops relevant courses of instruction (postgraduate courses and workshops). The director of the RFF, Jacques van Heijningen, is also the Film Commissioner for Rotterdam. He provides free advice to producers of audiovisual productions to help them realise projects. As the regional contact person he mediates, advises and organises. The Film Commissioner advises the city on the allocation of economic support and is an adviser for the municipality. Every year the RFF publishes an informative magazine about filming in Rotterdam: +3110, featuring Rotterdam. This publication takes a look at Rotterdam as a playing field, a workplace and a home base for the film and AV industry. The magazine also includes the Rotterdam Production Guide, a database containing addresses and specialisations relevant to the film and AV industry. The RFF has set up a project known as Kort Rotterdams, to help Rotterdam filmmakers and production teams acquire experience. Every year five local production teams are eligible for a grant to help them produce a short film.
